Winter Skincare Routine

It’s officially the beginning of February, and while I’ve been waiting for winter to be over since before it even started, I acknowledge that we’ve got at least another month of it left. As I’m sure you’re all well aware of (unless you live in the tropics or SoCal), winter does not arrive without notice. From the ungodly weather to the dry skin and chapped lips– it’s a season that is certainly hard to ignore.

This is precisely the reason why I figured there is no time like the present to make a post detailing my daily skincare routine as well as some nifty little tricks and tips I’ve picked up along the way to combat dry and flaky skin. Winter may come and go, but it doesn’t have to get the best of you or your skin.

Inaugural Protest Trump 2017( @thatdudewallace )

Ever wondered what it’s like for the unassuming, non-politically minded citizens of the District of Columbia during inauguration? Yes? No? Well I’m going to inform you anyway… because if you’re one of those going berserk over the inauguration, it’s only right that you know a little about the people whose city you are temporarily inhabiting. Seeing as this is now (most unfortunately) Trump’s America, I will be referencing his awful supporters and exercising my right to the First Amendment (yes trolls, come attack me, I dare you).

!!! W-A-R-N-I-N-G !!!

Extreme doses of sarcasm and anti-Trump rhetoric lie below the read more. This post will likely trigger either laughs or an instinct to throttle the author (i.e. me), and lastly, offend any and all Trump supporters (a.k.a Trumpers) spanning anywhere from California to the East Coast.

So without further ado, click the read more if you would like to collect ammo to attack me with, or are simply curious about the day-to-day for a Washingtonian who has little involvement with politics. Below are some common occurrences for DC residents during the inaugural period. View Post

Camden MaineCamden, Maine

Maine— just being here stirs up some things. I guess there are qualities about a place that never really go away. You love parts of it, people in it, m e m o r i e s associated with it… but you can’t really bring yourself to admit you love all of it for all the heartaches, drawbacks, and things it lacks. But you ignore those faults anyway and surround yourself with people you love and good energy. That’s what being home is. I think that’s what contentment is. It’s not just a love for, but it is also forgiveness of, a past you cannot change.

–December 19th, 2016

This post is something entirely new for me– a concept, a photojournalistic experience of a place many of you will likely never get the chance to see in December (I wouldn’t blame you, it’s absolutely frigid… and Maine sort of sucks in the winter). Despite all those things, it is a place I still fondly refer to as ‘home’ located in a little town called Camden, smack dab in the middle of the coast of Maine.

After going home for a solid month, I thought I’d give a little glimpse through my own figurative and literal lens to the Maine experience. This post sort of details all of the little things I found so beautiful where I once saw nothing as a teenager and a kid. It’s so odd to realize how times can change. I won’t lie– I think about my life and the life that could have been there, all the time.

I hope you are able to feel the way I felt being home– a dreamlike state of being neither here nor there. I also hope that same part of you falls in love with the very people, places, and things that I did.

Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette Review

A welcome revival from summer’s past, Too Faced made the choice to re-release the Limited Edition Sweet Peach Palette just in time for the holiday season, complete with an entire accompanying collection of Sweet Peach products to boot. It was why I couldn’t help but treat myself to the palette and accompanying bronzer just in time for the holidays. 🎁 Merry Christmas to me, right? 🎅🎄

Before I launch into the gist of the review, can I just preface by saying how t h r i l l e d I was to see Too Faced expanding their line with an all-new collection beyond their already-popular Chocolate Bar products. In a way, the entire Sweet Peach collection felt like an unexpected yet welcome Christmas surprise due to the limited exposure of the palette before its release.

Also, despite the fact that I love Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar line dearly, I was ready for Too Faced to release anything that deviated from the overly-sensationalized all matte trend that has dominated the pervasive beauty sphere of 2016. While I love an all-matte color scheme, there is only so much a girl can take before she walks down the aisles of Sephora and comes out looking like she rolled in hot chocolate mix.

What happened to the shimmer, the shine? The luster? The gloss?

Maybe I’m just being greedy when I say that I want it all… I want to have my cake and eat it too. Don’t get me wrong– I love matte… probably more than the average person, but I also want the glossy, the shimmer, and the shine that makes me feel like a walking diamond.

Enter Too Faced’s Sweet Peach Collection.

New Year, New Blog Redesign, Same Me

I know this is undoubtedly the trillionth New Years post you’ve read, but would it really be 2017 without one?

Every year, come the end of the year, I always have the same feeling of nostalgia and simultaneous relief by the time it’s over. I admit– I’m guilty of feeling everything too deeply, and when I think back on the things that both upset and overjoyed me, I can’t help but be overcome with a random assortment of strange emotions. In this case, 2016 was one of the best and worst years of my life (for a multitude of specifics I won’t get into).

But all I can say is: Hello 2017. I’m ready for you, I’ve been waiting, I’m eager to see what you have in store, and I’m pumped for something new. I want all of it– the emotions and happiness and sadness and memories that have yet to be made. I want to see what the rest of my life holds, and taking it one year at a time sounds like a pretty good first step to me.

I figured in honor of the new year, instead of bullshitting everyone I know by saying that I’m ready to “…become a whole new me!”, I wanted to introduce a brand new blog design instead… minus the crappy resolutions and self-affirming mantras.

Check it out below!
