My very first OOTD! It’s an exciting day! Well, if I’m being honest, it was actually pretty relaxing today. Instead of slaving over an espresso machine 24/7 (which, I’ll be the first to admit, isn’t half bad, because hello, free coffee all day), I got to play tourist in my own town, soak in some sun rays, and drink a lot of coffee I didn’t have to mak
e for once. Also to answer any questions, I’m a barista and no, it’s not as glamorous as it looks.. but that’s beside the point.
Since Maine stays fairly temperate and doesn’t get too hot or too cold in the summer months, I get to play around with what I wear… which is nice since I seem to have an identity crisis every time I open my closet. Sometimes it’s an angsty, all black, “boots and an oversize t-shirt” day and sometimes I’m in the mood to wear a maxi-dress and float like a fairy princess. But today was sunny and glorious and just the perfect sort of weather to frolic and convince my friend to have a fun little photoshoot with me.
NOT YOUR TYPICAL MOM JEANS

Before I talk about any other aspect of this outfit, I have to talk about what inspired me to put it together. The what in this case happens to be the pants pictured above. These ripped jeans are, without a doubt, one of my favorite articles of clothing I currently own. They are the one staple I rely on and turn to in times of dire need when I can’t decide on what to wear.
They go with anything and everything, and are cool enough to wear in the summer but offer enough coverage to don on a cooler night as well. My favorite way to wear The Pants (yes, they deserve their own title) is with a pair of bootie heels and a crop top, some chunky statement jewelry and my hair pulled back in a pony. No frills, just a tank top on? As Drake would have me say, that’s when I feel my best, hope you don’t take it wrong 😂😂😂
This morning while getting ready, I was being indecisive as usual and knew I wanted to wear these pants but just didn’t know what I wanted to pair them with until I found the top.

The make or break it factor of this outfit had to have been the shirt. I recently bought it two days ago but hadn’t had the chance to wear it until now (also because I didn’t want to get it covered with a bunch of coffee stains before I got at least five solid uses out of it first). While you wouldn’t initially think that The Pants would go with such a soft shirt, I think the rips in the jeans really complimented and added to the free-spirited vibe of the shirt.
I also threw in this cute owl necklace because the colors matched the knit in the top and the overall vibe I was going for. I’ve loved the necklace ever since I got it from American Eagle two years ago, but never found an excuse to wear it as much as I’d have liked to. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that my own style has changed dramatically from when I first got it, and I’ve gone through several style iterations before settling on my sort of edgy-minimalist-boho vibe I’m into right now.
Lastly, just because I’m a shoe girl, the sandals I got from DSW a couple months ago are worth a mention. Like my necklace, I don’t get to wear these shoes as often as I’d like but when I do, they’re comfortable, easy to walk in, and always play up the best features of whatever I’m wearing.

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed my OOTD as much as I enjoyed the warm weather. Drop a comment if there’s a particular style of post you’d like to see, or shoot me a message to say hello! I’d love to hear what your staples for the summer are too!
