November Goals

It’s the fourth day of November and you know what that means… time for goal setting and pie consuming. November is one of my favorite months, and it has e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g to do with the fact that Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

In honor of the month of giving thanks, here is a list of a few things I’m thankful for right now!

  • My sassy professors and my TA’s Twitter account (and also teasing my TA about the tweets he writes about his students)
  • My grandmother’s cute little laugh
  • My amazing, friendly, funny, inspiring, friends. I know it’s cheesy to say, but the people in my life right now are all some of the best people I’ve ever met– 10/10 would recommend.
  • The fact that I’m lucky enough to pursue an area of study I enjoy, and also have time to pursue my other hobbies such as blogging, photography, writing, and graphic design. School doesn’t dominate my entire life and even though there will come a time where it will have to, right now I’m just focused on riding the wave.
  • The smell of rain
  • My size 6 feet and the fact that shoes are never sold out in my size
  • !!!!MY MOM!!!!!

Okay, now after that little celebratory aside, let’s talk goals. More importantly, the goals I set for myself last month.

**crossed out are the ones I accomplished

  • Sleep more
    • This is such a hard one to cross one, especially when my alter ego is a perpetually strung out, stressed out, procrastination queen who likes to do her work UBER late at night.
  • Stop spending so much
    • Again, this one is harder than it seems. Makeup just keeps calling my name and I’m horrible at telling the little voice in my head to shut up. I’m a huge impulse buyer and splurger, and I’m entirely guilty of succumbing to my innermost desires. Oops.
  • Get out and shoot
  • Reach 500 Twitter Followers
  • Devote more time to Facebook & Pinterest groups
  • Run for 35 minutes
  • Finish the book I’m reading
    • I’ve been so busy lately that reading hasn’t really been a priority to me. Instead of reading, I am usually just working on my blog or out taking photos instead.

Now for this month!

1. Post More

I don’t post as often as I’d like, so this month I want to do better. It’s not for lack of ideas, because I have an entire list of posts I have yet to write up… it mostly has to due with time and lack of pictures. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my posts, and I don’t like to publish a post if the pictures fall short of what I want them to look like. I know perfection can never be achieved, but I do need to work on reminding myself that it’s okay to fall a little short sometimes.

2. Sleep More

This remains at the top of my to-do because lately I’ve been walking around like a sleep-deprived zombie… and I don’t like it one bit. I don’t like feeling tired all of the time, and I know that sleep is important to a balanced and healthy lifestyle; so I’m really trying my best to make sure it actually happens this month.

3. No-Spend November

Aside from my new tattoo and haircut (both necessary purchases IMO), I don’t plan to spend any money on extraneous purchases (*cough* like makeup, clothes, or shoes *cough*) for the entirety of this month. No-spend November starts now, and I plan to adhere pretty closely to it. We’ll see how well this goes… 😂😂😂

4. Reach 1.5k Twitter / 650 Bloglovin /2.5k Insta Followers

Surprise, surprise, more social media goals. Any blogger knows that the smaller the audience, the less social impact a blog makes. My hope for my own blog is that it will grow and inspire other women to unabashedly embrace who they are and who they want to be. Building an audience is a crucial part of that, so it is something I am trying to stay on top of. While I definitely don’t believe numbers or follower count makes a blog, I do believe that they assist in spreading the message you hope to project to the world.

5. Focus More in Class

I have a horrible time focusing in class, and it usually has to do with the fact that my laptop is distracting and because I learn quickly enough that I feel as though I don’t have to pay attention 24/7. This is perhaps not the best habit to fall into, so I’m trying to put my technology away and focus more in class.

6. Schedule Time for Brand Outreach

I’ve gotten offers from a few random brands already, but I really want to devote more time to writing promotional proposals, and doing more branch research+outreach as I work towards eventual monetization with my blog.

7. Take Part in More Twitter Chats

So far I’ve taken part in a few Twitter chats that I’ve absolutely adored, but I’d love to get a little more involved, especially since the beauty (and overall) blogging community is filled with such amazing, supportive people. I think it’s essential to build a sense of community in whatever blogging niche you’re in, so I really want to get more on top of participating in the chats!

8. Get Over my Fear of Vlogging

I’ve gotten a few Twitter requests to do a makeup tutorial and, in the past, I’ve always been slightly averse to being recorded or watching myself on video, mostly because I don’t like the sound of my own voice and pick apart my mannerisms when I’m in front of the camera. However, I’d love to do a makeup tutorial for you all, so if I have the time I will either upoad it in a video form or a post.

….aaand that’s all for this month!

Wish me luck, and drop a comment! Let me know what you’re thankful for and what your November goals are too. I always love hearing what you guys hope to accomplish as well!

That’s so great that you’re thankful for so many of the people in your life right now 🙂 Good luck with your November goals! I also want to take part in more Twitter chats. They seem like a great way to interact with more bloggers!

Twitter chats are a fantastic way to get to know people! I remember at first I was afraid people wouldn’t be friendly but they’re great and honestly some of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with online. On a side note, I think it’s important to always be grateful for what you have and sometimes the people in our lives can go overlooked. Cheers! xx

    • November 5, 2016 / 5:26 am

Thanks a bunch for stopping by! I’m really trying to knock all of these off my list so here’s to hoping I can. I hope you have a great November as well xx

  2. November 6, 2016 / 7:01 pm

great goals for the month hope you manage to fulfil them and good luck with your social media goals they definitely will help with the reach from your blog 🙂

    • November 6, 2016 / 7:03 pm

That’s the only reason I set them honestly! I try not to get too wrapped up in numbers but I notice they help immeasurably with traffic.

  3. November 6, 2016 / 9:12 pm

Good luck with your goals lovely! You can do it. It’s so lovely that you listed all the things you are thankful for, I went to the US last year for the first time and got to spend thanksgiving in NYC. Good luck with vlogging, I’ll be sure to look out for vids! You’ve got my support x

    • November 7, 2016 / 1:03 am

Aw that means a lot! I think it’s easy to want more, more, more that sometimes you have to stop and smell the flowers, so to speak and really count out the things that you’re grateful for. Sometimes it awes you just how much you didn’t realize you had until that moment. I’m hoping November will be a good month, thanks for the support Louise! xoxo

Oh wow you’ve achieved so much in October ! Good luck for November. Ree Love30

    • November 7, 2016 / 1:03 am

Here’s to hoping November will be just as fruitful (and productive) hehe

  5. November 7, 2016 / 12:16 am

You and I definitely have a few goals and things in common. Like being a perfectionist about blog posts. I also won’t post if the picture doesn’t work out or I haven’t taken pics for the posts yet. Sometimes I have a whole bunch of drafts sitting in my reader that later on get deleted because of the growing frustration of not taking a good enough picture.
The second thing is the focusing more on the school thing. even though I hate school, It is something I, unfortunately, have to deal with for now because my future job requires at least that of a high school diploma. And I am a spender too. I feel like the reason most of my money is gone 2 or 3 days after getting my paycheck is because I like knowing I have the money to buy my own things now that I have a job.

I enjoyed reading your post girl 🙂
wishing you all the best in achieving all your goals this November,

    • November 7, 2016 / 1:06 am

Ah yes, I RARELY start a post if I haven’t taken the pictures first… and then sometimes I take the pictures and then despise the way they turn out so it sets back posting for a little bit as well and it’s really just a vicious cycle until I end up with something I’m happy with.

I’m in college at the moment and even though I need to buckle down, study hard, and enjoy life, it’s way easier said than done, especially when I’m pursuing hobbies I enjoy on the side.

Thanks for stopping by and all the kind words! <3

  6. November 7, 2016 / 3:16 am

I love your mindset going into this month! Congrats on all of the goals you completed last month! How did you grow your Twitter? I am struggling with that now.

    • November 7, 2016 / 3:33 am

Honestly I just followed a lot of bloggers in the beauty blogger niche, participated in a couple of Twitter chats, and took the time to genuinely engage with the newer people that I followed! I was about to grow to about 1k followers in less than 2.5weeks! 🙂

  7. November 7, 2016 / 7:25 am

Great November list. Specially your Thanksgiving list its really wonderful. I hope you can manage to reach all your November Goal. All the best for your dear.

    Kintan XO,

He smell of rain – yes truly something I really love too😍😍

Sleep more for is sleep less for me. I am such a sleep lover😆

And listen in class. I miss my academic years😢

    • November 7, 2016 / 4:39 pm

Aw haha it’s ironic, I can’t wait to be done with them! It’s like, adulthood can’t come soon enough. At least– I say that now :p

    • November 7, 2016 / 4:42 pm

It definitely helps with keeping yourself on track and you feel super accomplished when you’re able to cross something off your to-do!

  9. November 7, 2016 / 4:26 pm

Congrats on the goals you’ve achieved in October, and best luck for November goals. Social media is a quite a challenge though. Setting a goal on SM is something is important, especially it’s a great tool to grow our blog..

  10. November 8, 2016 / 2:12 am

Your goals make me wanna be ambitious. Especially about posting more! I’m really trying to work on consistency!

    • November 8, 2016 / 2:55 am

Ugh same! Honestly I think consistency and consistently quality posts is much easier said than done and I’m still trying to strike a fine balance between posting enough and not posting for like, a month.

  11. November 8, 2016 / 4:19 am

Sleeping more is my ultimate goal. Although my struggle is to do everything I need to do in a span of a day. I wish I had the superpower of not needing sleep!

    • November 8, 2016 / 4:46 pm

Ugh I’m totally the same way! I tell my friends that I hate sleeping because there’s so much other things I could be doing and they look at me like I’m crazy. There’s just not enough time in the day! Curse human biology!

  12. November 9, 2016 / 1:30 am

I’m so grateful for supportive family and friends, my hubby and son! Also the blogging community and that I finally took a leap and started a blog myself! I wish that my shoe size was always in stock- size 7 seems to be the most popular size on earth! And I’m only 5 feet tall! Ugh. lol. You have great goals! And I’m the same- so many ideas and just not the time (or energy sometimes). Will definitely be reading more of your blog! I love it!

    • November 10, 2016 / 7:42 pm

Oh no! haha I find the biggest obstacle to posting is taking photos! It’s so time consuming and I get so frustrated when I try to take bulk photos but they come out unnatural or strange looking! Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoy the blog <3

  13. November 10, 2016 / 2:20 pm

I wish you the best of luck with all of your goals. I also whole-heartedly support No-Spend November. I´m on a little beauty spending ban myself right now & I understand your struggle. I´d do a full spending ban but I´m rotating the same three outfits right now as I don´t own enough tops appropriate for this grey, cold weather. So I need an Asos order ASAP!
    xx Lisa

    • November 10, 2016 / 7:33 pm

No-spend November is much easier said than done! I have such a spending problem, I realize I need to slow my roll. However, I do realize it’s normal to lapse once in a while and try not to beat myself up too much over it.

Oh my gosh this actually made my heart tingle with feels! I’m going to try, but no spend November is already killing me… and we’re only 10 days in. Oops!
