Mini Fall Lookbook (+ Special Collaboration)

cover

Fall is, hands down, my favorite season to dress for. It combines my love for fuzzy sweaters, utmost comfort, and layers into one neatly wrapped package. Not to mention autumn in the city always lends itself to new fashions; and I love people watching as much as I love picking out my wardrobe for the day ahead.

Every season, whether I consciously realize it or not, I tend to go through an unavoidable style evolution. I guess it all comes with the territory of growing older in conjunction with spending more time in the city. Urban life definitely dictates everything from my taste palette to my music choices, right down to my wardrobe; and I’m in a constant state of evolution along with my style as its own entity.

As a small town girl, it’s refreshing being able to dress how I like without being looked at strangely, and I definitely feel more at home walking around the streets of DC than rural Maine. This year, I think my wardrobe has matured immeasurably beyond what I was wearing two autumns ago, or even last year at this time. Below you can find some of the outfits I paired together, as well as a peek at my favorite fall style staples!

♡ MY FALL STYLE STAPLES ♡

img_8761-copy

  • Turtlenecks

I L-O-V-E a good turtleneck because it can end up being such a versatile piece of clothing. Turtlenecks can be paired with nearly anything for an effortlessly polished look.

You want to dress a turtleneck down? Great! Turtlenecks look adorable with jeans and some ankle booties. You want to dress a turtleneck up? Sure– just throw on some thigh high boots and leggings. Want to lounge? A black turtleneck (a lá Steve Jobs) with sweats and some nice sneakers is a cute way to incorporate athleisure into your everyday style without looking too undone.

The possibilities are endless, and whatever pants/shoes/sneakers/skirts you want to wear, odds are, a turtleneck will look great with whatever.

  • Thigh high boots

The thing I love most about thigh high boots are the fact that they make just about anything look put together. Even if you’re wearing a t-shirt four times too large and some holey leggings, thigh high boots automatically add about ten extra style points. If you get boots that are flat, they’re also comfortable enough to wear on a daily basis!

  • Crop tops

I know crop tops get a wrap for being strictly summer-only pieces of clothing, but I actually love to wear crop tops in the fall underneath my jackets or cardigans. Crop tops really help tie together an otherwise chunky outfit with lots of layers, making it look that much more streamlined.

  • Patterned + Oversize Sweaters

This is sort of a given. This is the whole reason I love autumn. Sweater weather gives me life. That’s all I really have to say.

  • Red lipstick and burgundy eyeshadow

Red is one of my favorite colors– so any time of the year I have an excuse to don red lips and burgundy eyes, you best believe I will. I love how classy red lipstick makes anyone seem and burgundy eyeshadows are so fun to play with while I’m doing my makeup. Autumn just gives me an excuse to wear red all the time and I won’t lie– I live for it.

  • Nudes, browns, greys, and blacks

Come the fall time, my wardrobe consists exclusively of darker and neutral shades. I love dark blue, black, deep reds, greys, navy greens, you name it. Out with the pastels and in with the neutrals. Not to mention neutral colors make anyone look super sophisticated without even trying. Head-to-toe black is also my jam.

  • Rose Gold Watch

Without even realizing it, I’ve gotten very into watches lately, so I like pairing different watches with different outfits. It wasn’t until today that I noticed they all happen to be rose gold, but I find that with my neutral wardrobe palette, rose gold ties everything together pretty nicely. It gives the illusion of opulence, even when I’m sitting in my bed eating cookies, decked out in sweats.

  • Sweatpants

If it isn’t obvious by now, I’m also pretty much obsessed with that athleisure lifestyle. I love my sneakers, I love my sweatpants, I love my tank tops and just generally being comfortable. Sweatpants are my favorite go-to because they’re so fuzzy and cozy, which is what a girl needs when the temperature is dropping rapidly outside the window. I also never feel as confident as I do when I’m just chilling in my sweatpants. I even leave my dorm with them on!

I love them! I like to wear them with an oversized ripped t-shirt too and they just tie everything together.

Lovely post & gorgeous photos! I’m currently obsessed with turtle necks & OTK boots right now. Those paired with leggings = perfect! I’m also loving the dark lipsticks. I don’t think I’ve wore anything but dark lipsticks since Fall started, haha.

Thanks babe! Oh my I’ll definitely have to check out the boots… any boots, I’m on it like Kim Possible. I wish I could rock the dark lipsticks, but it looks so extreme against my features, I just admire wistfully from afar! Power to you for wearing those vampy shades!

Gorgeous photos. My fall style is pretty much oversized sweaters, knee high socks, sneakers or chunky heel boots and lots of dark vampy colours especially with my makeup =^.^=

Beautiful, as always! I’m loving the “basic tee” tee! I’m such a plain jane but you pull it all together with a patterned cardi and it looks great! I’ll have to try that 🙂

    • November 16, 2016 / 7:49 pm

Haha that was my photographer’s favorite thing to photograph too! Gotta love basic tees in the fall time! I actually love that look since the cardigan, jeans, and boots, are all super comfortable to wear on an everyday basis.

Loved this post! Your pictures are stunning. I would have to say I can not survive fall without an oversized sweater, and a solid reliable pair of thigh high boots!

    Thanks for sharing <3

You have a gorgeous style right now! Red lips & rose gold are definitely two of my autumn staples as well. I do love how rose gold hasn´t gone out of style yet (& I hope it stays for a little while longer)! Honestly I´m not much of a turtleneck person as I feel strangled easily but I do love the wider turtlenecks on knit jumpers! I´m still trying to hunt one of those down for this season.

Rose gold looks great in photographs too and makes the perfect accessory! I can see how you’d feel that way about turtlenecks as I wasn’t a fan of them for a majority of my life until I found properly stretchy ones (holla H&M). I do enjoy oversized sweaters and crop sweaters as an alternative though! Fashion Nova is a great place to look for them as well as H&M!

Super cute style 🙂 I love that turtleneck. I so need one for the Fall/Winter.

    • December 2, 2016 / 2:39 am

Thank you! I actually got it from H&M and it wasn’t expensive at all! It’s a super stretchy and comfortable material, so I’d definitely recommend checking out H&M to see what other colors that may have! I think I bought it in around three… oops hehe.
